Studying as an Electro-Mechanical Engineer was the starting point of my career which guided my CPD with an electrical bias gaining recognition via higher & further education, graduating 'top of the class' in electrical and electronic engineering.
With this broader knowledge base of the industry I joined the NHS during the transition stages of the inception of PropCo (UK Gov) & to provide the public sector with value driven commercial and technical experience via NHS Property Services Ltd, an estate valued between £3 - £5 billion.
During this tenure I was named 'National young manager of the year' and subsequently nominated by the Chief Operating Officer 'Pattenmakers' young manager award' with the Worshipful Pattenmakers Guild supported by RICS, A prize that bestowed Honorary Freedom of the Livery and the opportunity to apply for the Freedom of the City of London. Without doubt one of the highlights of my professional career..
As a multi skilled engineer running the electrical engineering department & co-running the M&E department from a hard FM engineering role, I created and managed Service Level Agreements, JCT and NEC contractual agreements in order to create a reduction in cost Vs spend for the taxpayer and future shareholders, evidenced by the smooth continuity of service to health service providers within the estate and the abundance of praise received during CQC audits. Ultimately I was responsible for the overall safety of service users and providers with compliance to regulations being paramount.
Throughout my career I've always been keen to develop my own personal skills which has driven my passion for engineering and technology, With extensive technical knowledge within the industry I have been appointed lead controlling AP LV & Estates Officer for NHS Property Services Ltd and also a nominated person for the UKRI Science and Technology Facilities Council.
I like to think outside the box and continue to further my professional development. My ultimate goal is to shorten the skills gap within the UK and continue to train and advise those within my team utilising experience with a collective approach helping the industry transition into the new era of engineering and technology.
I joined the Institution of Engineering and Technology to progress within a professional environment, help engineer a better world and currently an active member of the Engineering Council as a professionally registered engineering technician continuing my professional development with the aim of becoming a registered chartered engineer.
In my spare time I enjoyed playing rugby with further prestige in the form of a '1st XV Players Player' Award with Durham City Rugby Football Club, Harpenden RFC 2nd & 3rd team League Champions, 1st XV league top scorer with Horden RFC, Durham County Cup winner with Houghton RUFC, represented Durham County RFU and a Rugby League North East Premier League Champion with Peterlee Pumas during my playing career.
